Analyst: Resistance 3 to sell 15 million, Battlefield 3/Modern Warfare 3 to sell 3 million combined
The local supermarket clerk in my neighborhood also happens to be a video game analyst: imagine that! He was talking numbers with me, and believes that Insomniac Games' Resistance 3 will easily sell more than 15 million copies, while games like Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 will sell around 3 million combined.
He also happens to be an avid PS3 fan.
Resistance 3 will Topple both Battlefield 3/Modern Warfare 3 for best online shooter
There are quite a few online shooters coming out this fall, with Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 at the forefront. However, there's one that hasn't been in the limelight too much yet is actually the better of the titles releasing this year--Resistance 3. Resistance 3 may not look like a high-stakes contender, but it will surely topple both Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 this year, and here's why.
- It's humans vs. aliens- Human on human combat is so 2007, and one thing that Resistance has going for it is that its a shooter revolved around humanity's fight for survival. There is such a small market for alien invasion shooters, and Resistance 3 perfectly fills the void.
- Cooler Guns- M4A1 Carbine?! Pffftt!!! How about a Bullseye rifle that can track enemies? How about a gun with a huge scope that can hit targets at vast distances?
- Has a better New York- Resistance 3's take on a 1950s New York is way better than what Call of Duty is trying to accomplish with its Hollywood blockbuster spinoff.
- Has Create-A-Class- Another feature that Resistance 3 has, allowing the player to truly make the experience of playing online their own.
- Releases earlier- September 6, 2011
Resistance 3 is set to take the crown this fall; will you help it get there?

Report: "GoldenEye Reloaded" is GoldenEye 64 HD, Will be Downloadable
As with our breakout post about Metal Gear Solid churning out an HD collection, we were given a tip from an industry insider today that claims the upcoming Activision GoldenEye game--currently dubbed "Reloaded"--will in fact be an HD upgrade to the original N64 hit. The game is said to include 1080p visuals with the option for the original N64 resolution, and online multiplayer.
The game will also be a downloadable title for the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network and is currently said to cost $19.99.
This certainly strays away from the common conception that the game was going to be an HD upgrade to last year's Wii title. However, while the insider who tipped us is certainly credible, we still have to see what announcement Activision will make in the future.

Killzone 4 in "early concept development"
When we broke the news about the MGS HD bundle being released before any other sites, it caused a slight uproar.
Well, here's for another.
One of our sources has confirmed that Guerrilla Games has just started work, mainly concept ideas, for Killzone 4 but the game won't be officially announced until E3 next year, when Sony will possibly reveal details about its PlayStation 4 console.
Our source said, "The guys at Guerrilla were given a break after the Killzone 3 development, some time to refresh, and work on Killzone 3 patches and content, but also to get a much needed breather. I just spoke with one of the guys on the development team, and he confirmed that Killzone 4 has now entered early concept development, but Sony's giving them a lot of time with this one, apparently not planning on anything "official" to announce/show until next year's E3."
Hopefully whatever ideas the guys had already thought of, work out well for the next game in the series!

Mark Rein Comments on Valve's Wii U Support
Mark Rein, the small guy over at Epic that has made a few waves with statements, just said via the famous Twitter, "Valve likes the WiiU -- the idea of having full Steam support on WiiU excites me quite a bit! Valve rocks!"
Is this a sign of Nintendo possibly patching relations with Epic in the future? Who knows, but at least it was a positive comment about a Nintendo system from a guy at Epic...hold on tight Nintendo fans, there is hope!

Destructoid = Trash Journalism
Destructoid. Fanboys love it, fanboys hate it. Fact of the matter though, Destructoid is trash "journalism" in our opinion. Why is Destructoid trash "journalism"?
1) They steal stories, or "tips", and do not properly source them...that's trash. Stealing the work of other people is something we have come to expect from the government, but not gaming sites. Then again, this is 2011 and honesty is meaning less and less with "blogs", and looking at the content Destructoid provides, or doesn't provide we should say, why should people expect honesty from a site like that?
So, this week's "Trash Journalism" video game award goes to Nick Chester and the crew he commands over at Destructoid. Congratulations for being a failure and a trash site!

Analyst: Battlefield 3 Will "Move" You, No "Awesome Feature" on Xbox 360
An analyst over at Hastings Securities and Systems, Dick Jones, had an inside bit of information about Battlefield 3 from this year's E3 convention. He noted that that PlayStation 3 version of Battlefield 3 will support the Move controller, however, the Xbox 360 one would not support Kinect. Dick Jones gave no reason for the omission of Kinect support, but said that DICE felt it wouldn't work with the game.
Jones spoke with us on the floor of the E3 convention when he revealed this information. Let's just see if it pulls through.
Exclusive: PlayStation 3 Can't Even Run Greg Hastings Paintball 2
The PlayStation 3--it was supposed to be the big next step in gaming technology. Blu-ray won the battle against HD DVD, and with its cell processors and other mumbo-jumbo, one would think the PlayStation 3 is the definitive system.
Well...
You were wrong.
As I was playing the latest downloadable title--Greg Hastings Paintball 2--my PlayStation 3's fans started to churn so loud I thought it was going to take off. Why? Better yet, HOW can this piece of hardware not be able to run such a primitive experience as Greg Hastings? Is the PlayStation 3 teh suxx0r?

Borderlands 2 Leaked by Amazon.com!
We were the first site to report on the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection being released, as a matter of fact(that's what report after all), that was our very first post for the site.
When we started talking with industry insiders(our friends), we figured "Why not start a site and share our info with others?", and that's what we're trying to do here at VGE. News(and facts) for gamers, hopefully before any other sites know about some of it.
Well, we have some big news today! Apparently, in a gaffe, Amazon.com made public the Borderlands 2 page, before the game has even been "officially" announced. Take a look!
With Gearbox and 2K having just released Duke Nukem Forever, we're thinking a Borderlands 2 "reveal" will be happening very soon.
Do y'all think the March 2012 release date is "official", or just a place-holder date?

Duke Nukem Forever Review: Gives Killzone 3 a Run for its Money
Duke Nukem Forever is releasing tomorrow and with our time with the king's return, we have to say we are deeply impressed. From the stellar graphics to the fantastic characters and story arch, there's nothing you can hate about the Duke's arrival.
Graphics:
Superb. Never have we seen shaders, rendering, or just flat out graphical quality in a game as it is represented in DNF. There are absolutely no glitches or pop-ups in Forever, which is rather impressive in today's gaming age. Oh, and the voice-overs and cutscenes are great, and by far outdoes what L.A. Noire has.
Duke Nukem Forever may have been in development for over 10 years, but don't be fooled--this does NOT look like a 10 year old game.
Gameplay:
Slick. Accessible. Fun. Those are the three words that sum up Duke Nukem Forever's gameplay. While there are some hitches here and there, it still doesn't detract from the stellar experience. One minute you are running down a hall, the next you are shooting. Sometimes you even run down a hall while shooting, which really adds to the depth and experience. This new "run and gun" genre that Duke Nukem Forever is creating will without a doubt be replicated by future games from other franchises.
What really gets us is the witty remarks that Duke makes from time to time. Really, they are winners.
Story:
Forget everything that you've experienced in any Rockstar game, Halo, Killzone, or even God of War. Duke Nukem Forever takes the cake on them all, and by gollie we can't wait to hop back into it. If there were any other shooter out today that matches the quality of Forever's story arch, we'd love to see it.
The main story revolves around Duke Nukem roaming around and killing stuff. After killing stuff, he kills more stuff. Repetitive? No. Just downright original.
Overall: 10 out of 10
***PERFECTION***

No Blu-ray for Wii U
Reggie Fils-Aime just confirmed to GameTrailers Wii U will not have Blu-ray.
http://www.gametrailers.com/netstorage/e3/e3-live.html
It appears the rumors saying it would be a Blu-ray players and support those discs appear to not be true; at least coming from Nintendo's own mouth.

Image - Uncharted: Golden Abyss' Bad Blood
During Sony's E3 press event tonight, they showed off some game-play footage for Uncharted: Golden Abyss which is going to be released for Sony's new handheld, the PS Vita.
The game-play clip ended with Drake running up to an enemy and blasting him at point-blank range with a shotgun. The results were typical for a point-blank shotgun blast, as the enemy died immediately. What you may not have noticed though, was the color of the enemy's blood.
Take look at the images below:
While Uncharted games have done a great job on the PS3 with having a wide color palette for objects in the environments, we're a little concerned that Uncharted: Golden Abyss' color palette may be limited because of the Vita hardware.
Now, take a look at the exact same images from above, but with a brighter colored blood:
Do you feel that the developers should change the color of the blood in Uncharted: Golden Abyss, or leave it as it is?

New Star Fox, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros to Appear Tomorrow at Nintendo's Press Conference
While on the floor of E3 we heard from a Nintendo insider that during the company's press conference tomorrow we will see a brand new console version of Star Fox, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros.-- all of which will be slated to release on Nintendo's new home system.
They won't be in playable form, however, but early teasers will show the direction the series' are taking.
Rumor: Nintendo 3DS eShop Update Delayed Until July
In a stunning upset revealed by an anonymous source, Nintendo has delayed the much-anticipated May (now June 6) update until mid-July. Why? A slight error in the update caused games to crash mid-play which would be a severe setback for the company.
This is still a rumor from an anonymous source, so we'll have to wait until Nintendo's E3 Press Event tomorrow.
